VIP Litter Pick
On Wednesday the 11th of November, members of VIP descended upon Milton Common, near the Langstone campus, for an environmental clean up. The event was organised as part of Make a Difference Day, the UK’s largest annual day of volunteering.
The site has been featured in the local papers as a litter hot spot, with several locals complaining about Portsmouth council’s lack of action when it comes to the site. So, it was an ideal place for Portsmouth students to lend a helping hand and really make a difference. Even though the weather was not on their side, the group, totaling around eleven students, managed to collect countless bags of rubbish including; discarded beer cans, fireworks and even an old road sign.
The students were also supporters of the month for Cancer Research after spending the day cheering along participants of the Great South Run. Upcoming events include Santa’s little helper, where disabled children are invited to take part in Christmas activities and an OAP Christmas dinner.
