Hey sports fans!

Hey sports fans! This is your new editor taking the chance to introduce himself, say have a great summer and thank all contributors to the section. The outgoing editor, Liam Ryder, has done a sterling job and with such a terrific platform to to move on from the scene looks set for my tenure as leader of the Purple Wednesdays section to be a successful one.
As I see it, this university thrives on sport and relies on the different clubs to provide much of the merriment, activities and energy which drives it. Boxing, Netball, Mountain Biking and Tae Kwondo are just a few shining examples of the super-high standard of sporting achievement found in all the clubs at  this university, making this editor a very proud and excited one. To be leading the charge for media coverage of sport at the University of Portsmouth is a privilege I am eager to honour.
At the time of writing this Portsmouth Uni clubs are laying waste to the Navy challengers over at the Navy Varsity event, and for that I would like to congratulate and thank them for representing our university so well. However, even with the fantastic level of sport we have here, there is still a problem, and that is with the representation of the various clubs within these hallowed pages. Next year my aim is to encourage and to aid you the sports club members to contribute regular reports and stories upon your activities, ensuring a fairer and broader representation.
I look forward to working with those who will contribute, and am excited to represent the various clubs, all in all the year looks to be another exciting one for sport. Again thanks go to Liam and to those who have contributed to this final edition, bring on 2010/2011!
