Preview: Southsea Fest 2010
Southsea Festival returns on Saturday 18th September for another day full of poets, DJs, artists and some of the finest, acclaimed, established acts around.
Now into its 4th year, the not-for-profit festival is taking place at 11 venues on Albert Road, including, new for this year, the Kings Theatre.
Although the secret headliners are yet to be announced, The Strange Death of Liberal England, fresh from a tour with the Editors and on the NME Radar Tour, have announced they will play perhaps the most ambitious set of the festival performing with a 32-piece orchestra at Kings.
Some of the country’s biggest up and coming bands, including Run Toto Run, Tall Ships, North Atlantic Oscillation, Little Fish and tonnes of others are joined by lesser known local lights, to provide a perfect opportunity to see the big bands of tomorrow and to say: “I saw them before they were famous at Southsea Fest 2010”.
With a variety of acts, from DJs and poets to indie/electro/folk/rock bands, there is something for everyone at a festival quickly establishing itself on the scene, as can be seen with the number of tickets rising from 1000 last year, up to 4000 tickets for this time around.
Tickets for the nautical themed festival are priced at £12 for adults and £8 for kids, with access to all the venues included in the price for the day-long event.
Later this month, look out for Pugwash News’s writers’ previews and our opinions on who will make a big splash and who will sink like a cannonball.
