Preview: Barenaked Ladies

It’s been almost exactly three years since Barenaked Ladies, an alternative pop-rock group from Canada, last toured in the UK, so this trip ought to draw a good crowd of loyal British fans. And they won’t be disappointed. This band are notoriously enjoyable live, and they have eleven albums’ worth of songs to choose from. After twenty years as an ensemble, these guys know what they’re doing, and they do it very well. Most famous for their classic tune “If I Had $1,000,000” and their number 1 hit from 1998 “One Week”, you may also know them as the guys who sing the theme tune to The Big Bang Theory!

This tour is to promote their latest album, “All In Good Time”, which was released in the UK in April by Raisin Records/EMI and debuted at Number 1 on Billboard’s Top Independent Album Chart. Featuring the single “You Run Away”, it boasts 14 all-new songs and is the band’s first album as a four piece since the departure of lead singer Steven Page in 2009. The band – Ed Robertson (guitar/vocals), Jim Creegan (bass/vocals), Kevin Hearne (keyboard/guitar/vocals), and Tyler Stewart (drums/vocals) – recorded the album in their studio in Toronto; it was produced by long time collaborator Micheal Phillip Wojewoda.

Pugwash News is pleased to inform you that we will be seeing them live on the 11th September in Southampton – watch this space for a review in the weeks to come!

The album is now available on iTunes and Amazon.co.uk. Tickets for the tour, which goes from the 9th to the 26th September, are available through barenakedladies.com, where you can also join the newly re-launched and revamped Ladies Room fan club. You can also find the band on Facebook and Twitter.
