Review: Four is a magic number

I Am Number Four, out in cinemas now

Never before have I ever had to join a queue as long as the cinema, where all the people involved were there to see one film. Whatever this film was, it definitely had to be worth it. With that in mind, if you decide to go and see any film in the near future, make sure it’s I Am Number Four (the film everyone was queuing for in case it wasn’t obvious).

Starring the unfairly good looking and relatively unknown Alex Pettyfer (he’s British by the way – get in!) and the Gleefully alluring Dianna Agron, most known for her role as cheerleader Quinn Fabray in, well, Glee, I Am Number Four is a science-fiction novel adaptation about nine hot, feisty teenage aliens from the planet Lorien who, with their guardians, are fighting for survival and running for their lives from the cosmetically challenged Mogadorians, who have their minds set on killing them all.

The teenage Loriens’ can only be killed in order and with one, two and three dead, number four (Pettyfer) knows he is next.
After running to Paradise, Ohio, with his guardian Henri (Timothy Olyphant), he meets photography obsessed Sarah (Agron). He’s blonde, she’s blonde. He’s gorgeous, she’s gorgeous. He’s a little different, she’s a little different. So naturally as with all teenage boy/girl scenario’s, the love flame begins to kindle, inevitably making it harder for him to leave and easier for the Mogadorians to find him.

This film is full to the brim with kick-ass special effects, kick-ass superpowers (telekinesis and being fire proof to name a few) and kick-ass action, a lot of which is down to the super kick-ass number 6 played by Teresa Palmer, who without a doubt takes girl power to a whole new level.

I Am Number Four is a perfect mix of teenage angst, romance and hardships coupled with X-Men-esque sci-fi action, adventure and thrills, and just to shake things up, an adorable dog with a supernatural secret. With laugh-out-loud and scream-out-loud moments, I Am Number Four will definitely blow your socks off.
