V, the national young volunteers’ service, are running a new volunteering scheme called Teamv, to help give young leaders a chance to learn vital new skills whilst helping their local communities.
Teamv is a national team of young leaders who will recruit and manage groups of volunteers to carry out social action projects in their area. Leaders are selected for their enthusiasm, commitment, passion and ability to engage with other young people.
The aim of the scheme is to help motivated young people gain some really valuable management and organisational skills, whilst using their creativity to help their communities.
Volunteers will use their creativity to roll out three innovative national campaigns within their local community, whilst developing practical budgeting, leadership and organisational skills.
At the end of the year long programme, which is set to run from November 2011 to June 2012, Teamv leaders will have the chance to apply for a scholarship of up to £1,000 to help them continue with either their education or personal development.
Terry Ryall, CEO of v says: “There are thousands of positive, enthusiastic and talented young people out there who have so much to give to their communities. Teamv is a brilliant opportunity for sparky, energetic, creative young leaders to share their skills and enthusiasm with other young people and make a real impact on key social issues.”
Young people aged 18-25 can apply to become a Teamv member now, by visiting www.vinspired.com/teamv. Applicants can be in full time work, training, education, or simply be looking for a great opportunity to develop their leadership skills. Leaders will receive valuable training and support to recruit and manage their local teams. The deadline for applications is 13 October 2011.
The scheme is being delivered by v, the National Young Volunteers’ Service, in partnership with the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE), the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) and the Rank Foundation.
