Our Favourite Christmas Beauty Stocking Fillers

Editor Lucy Morris gives you a helping hand for your Christmas stockings

Just because an item is small, doesn’t mean it is ‘fit’ for a stocking filler. Stocking fillers are about token gifts; the less expensive, the better.  So, we at The Galleon have done our research into what beauty product we would love to receive this Christmas, and at bargain prices, so that you don’t have to!

Beauty At Your Finger…Nails?
Nothing quite beats going to the salon and getting your nails done but who has the time, not to mention the money, in the lead-up to Christmas? So if you want your nails to shine this year without the hefty price tag, we’ve got the perfect polish. The Rimmel London 60 Second Super Shine Nail Polish is the best polish for under a fiver, staying well within budget. It’s promise to be fast-drying succeeds and, as long as you are generous with the coats, it can last up to a week. Try the shades ‘It’s the Cherry on Top’ or ‘Double Decker Red’ for all the Christmassy feels!

This’ll Make You Balm-y!
As my previous article ‘Save Your Skin’ explains, your skin is especially dehydrated in the winter months and is crying out for extra moisture- and your lips are no exception! Most of us will have experienced dry and cracked lips that only get a quick relief with a shop-bought lip balm such as Vaseline. Because of the popularity of these brands, there are now many gift sets explicitly for dry lips. But if you’re popping this on your Christmas list or buying it as a present for a loved one, wouldn’t you want to know that it really works? Well look no further because I have found the best balm around, tried and tested by myself. This magic in a tube is from La Roche-Posay’s ‘Cicaplast’ range and is called ‘Cicaplast Lips’ and retails for £6.00 at Boots. It may not be the most aesthetically pleasing packaging but your recipient will definitely thank you after they’ve tried it.

Shower Me With Gel
During the cold months, warm showers will become our best friend. But washing in hot water too frequently can also dry out your skin which leaves it looking and feeling lifeless; this is where The Body Shop comes in. Their Satsuma Shower Gel will give you that uplifting glow that your skin needs as it is enriched with Vitamin C and smells great too! This bottle comes in at £5.00 for 250ml or, for the frequent travellers among us, £2.00 for a handy 60ml. Perfect to pop in a stocking!

Pucker Up, Princess
MAC lipsticks are iconic. Whether you wear Velvet Teddy or Ruby Woo, you always know you are going to get a durable and eye-catching colour. The problem is at £18.00 for most of their lipstick ranges, that leaves little room for any other presents, so what can you do? Well MAC has brought out a solution in the form of a mini lipstick. Their most famous colours, including the ones mentioned above, are now available in ‘mini’ form and at almost half the price (£10.00 for 1.8g), it’s the perfect stocking filler.

Sock it to Me
Now here’s a fairly new discovery that will blow your mind! Bold statement maybe, but I stand by this being one of my best purchases. The product I am talking about is a foot peeling mask which is in the form of two sock ‘booties’ that you place on your feet for about an hour and a half and the dead skin and callus will peel off during the seven days after this.

It Just Makes Scents
The final piece of the beauty puzzle is of course perfume- and it needn’t be expensive. I have discovered a website that makes perfumes, which smell exactly like your favourite designer branded one, at a fraction of the price. If your favourite perfume can be found at perfume counters, it is most likely available online. The website is called Eden Perfumes; for a 30ml bottle it costs £18.00, and for 50ml it is £24.00. I have tried and tested this with the copy of ‘Alien’ and it smells identical. Even better- the perfumes are vegan and cruelty free!

Hopefully this will have helped you along with your stocking filler ideas but don’t forget, Christmas is a time for family, food and fun- it’s not all about what you put under the tree.
