As we start to move into the final phase of the season, the title race is heating up, relegation
is inevitable for a few teams and the fight to secure a top 4 spot has never been closer. For Fulham and Huddersfield, they are destined for relegation. Fulham have been extremely poor this season, and subverting fans’ expectations of a mid-table finish. Huddersfield will be following Fulham into the Championship, with points difference between their rivals proving to be to big a bridge to gap. With only two wins this season, and with no signs of change on the horizon, it’s no surprise that this side will fall into the lower league.
However, both Southampton and Cardiff City are fighting hard to remain in the promised lands of the Premier League. My prediction is that Cardiff City will fall below Southampton and enter the Championship with both Huddersfield and Fulham. Cardiff City have conceded 47 goals this season and have only had 7 clean sheets. Their defence lacks structure and composure, and everyone knows that defence, especially for the worst teams in the league, leads to success or at the very least some crucial draws throughout the season. So, my three for relegation are Fulham, Huddersfield and Cardiff City.
For the title race, it is only between two teams: Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Pep Guardiola’s
Manchester City. Personally, I believe that Liverpool will shock the world and take the Premier League crown away from the champions. Liverpool are showing a lot of passion and heart and appear to have a slightly better attack than Manchester City. The front trio of Mane, Salah and Firmino is a deadly one, with each possessing unique attacking qualities that complement one another. I believe Liverpool slightly have an edge in this factor. Furthermore, Virgil van Dijk is a brick
wall in Liverpool’s defence, and has shown that he is a force to be reckoned with in the box.
But what about the top 4 finish? One of the biggest surprises at this end of the season is the resurgence of Manchester United. Since the firing of Jose Mourinho, we have seen a new Manchester United. Paul Pogba has found his best form under at Manchester United, with the team appearing to be calmer and more collected as well as more ruthless in key moments of the game. Manchester United have given fans new hope for seasons to come, as this is the Manchester United side that fans have been missing post-Sir Alex Ferguson.
At the time of writing, Manchester United sit 4th in the table above Arsenal and Chelsea but could creep their way above Tottenham if the Gods are in United’s favour. Arsenal and Chelsea will remain in the 5th and 6th spot respectively, as both have been disappointing. Chelsea are a mess right now and need a complete reshuffle. The club is in chaos and it seems the players are going through the motions. They will remain below Arsenal in the table.
