Get out of a tight squeeze
I love tights, however I get bored of opaques, even though they are a godsend. My solution to this boredom? Patterned tights.
The facts and myths behind your morning-after hangover
“I’ll never drink again!” A claim many of us make when suffering after a couple of drinks too many on a night out. Here I have uncovered some of those facts, as well as the myths, behind the causes and the cures of a hangover.
When is a discount not a benefit?
Students are known for grabbing a bargain, be it with food, drinks or clothes. However, are all the discounts available really just enticing us to spend money that we would not normally part with? Students all over the country are bombarded with discount codes and cards, and are consequently rushing into shops.
Healthy traditional British food?
Whilst sitting in Wetherspoons contemplating the menu, my calorie-counting Romanian friend stated that British food is unhealthy, and normally I have an argument at the ready for anything, but with this subject I was stumped. Since that conversation, I have been mulling over in my head if there is any healthy traditional British cuisine?
Glide along with the wind in your hair
For many of us, living on the coast is only beneficial in the summertime. It is true that the beach does not have the same lure in the winter as it does when hoards are milling around with ice creams and children are making sandcastles. However, if you miss spending time by the water, and are partial to an adrenaline rush or two look no further than Gunwharf Quays “Fun on the Water”, which offers a wide range of water sports and boat rides for you to try.
Let’s get quizzical
Is the burden of a must-attend night out at Tiger destroying your bank balance? Are you stuck for ideas on how to entertain yourself on a night in? Well, the answer to all your greatest needs is a home-made quiz night with all your closest friends.
A cookie? My Kingdom for a cookie!
Who in their right senses would not happily bargain for a cookie? But the real question which arises is: why? How can a tiny flat-baked treat make a person happier? The American scientists solved this puzzle for us: mood food. A certain mood can be achieved (for a short amount of time) by eating. This is caused by certain substances which have a direct action on our brain and can therefore influence our mood.
Aphrodisiac food in the student kitchen
While most student kitchens consist of mainly baked beans and Super Noodles, many of us without even realising it, have normal, everyday ingredients in our cupboards which can be used as aphrodisiacs.
Do something amazing, Give Blood
Most of us have a favourite vampire; whether it’s one of the many incarnations of Dracula, or a more modern take on the blood-sucking fiend, these fanged foes have been part of popular culture for a long time.
