The University of Portsmouth Destroyers have steadily improved since joining the British University American Football League (BUAFL) in 2006. In 2010/11 The Portsmouth Destroyers defeated the Birmingham Lions 20–19 in a closely contested National Final to be crowned BUAFL National Champions.
