Portsmouth 2nd team cruised into the Second Round of the BUCS Badminton South Eastern Cup on Wednesday, defeating Bucks New University 1st team 5-3. A dominant performance over Bucks, positioned two divisions below Portsmouth, highlighted the potential for success this season.
In a tightly contested match Portsmouth women’s 1st badminton team fell short of victory in their second league game. The Portsmouth team took on London School of Economics in the BUCS badminton South Eastern Conference, suffering a 3-5 defeat.

The University of Portsmouth Women’s rugby team raced ahead for the Alzheimer’s Society in the BUPA Great South Run. Jade Biskin-Barnes, Lissy Richards, Harriet Baker, Tori Cox, Lauren Ryan (VP Sports) and Amy Baker (VP Welfare and Volunteering ) were among a number of AU members who took part in the twenty year old race on Sunday the 24th October.

Hey sports fans! This is your new editor taking the chance to introduce himself, say have a great summer and thank all contributors to the section. The outgoing editor, Liam Ryder, has done a sterling job and with such a terrific platform to to move on from the scene looks set for my tenure as leader of the Purple Wednesdays section to be a successful one.
On the 19th May at HMS Temeraire sports ground, sportsmen and women from the University of Portsmouth laid waste to challengers from the Royal Navy. The events on the day were male and female football, mixed hockey and volleyball, netball and the much anticipated crowd-drawing rugby clash. In all of the clashes, the university was victorious.
